Final Project!
Hi everyone! The parts of McLuhan's book that inspired this project were pages 152 to 155 and the idea of allatonceness described on page 63 as " Ours is a brand new world of allatonceness. "Time" has ceased, "space" has vanished. We now live in a global village...a simultaneous happening." This idea of allatonceness combined with the imagery on pages 152 to 155 made me think of connection not only in an electronic sense, but also in the way that humans are naturally social creatures and thus cannot exist without connection. Pages 152-155 quote Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland , specifically the scene of the smoking worm asking Alice "Who are you?" and her responding "I-I hardly know, sir, just at present - at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then" Depicted around the quote in addition to illustration of the Alice in Wonderland scene are figureheads ...
